A Step nearer the swimming pool for the Children’s Home

LIVE, the ex pat charity supporting the Malaga Children’s Home, took a step nearer to raising the money for a new swimming pool for La Ciudad de los Niños at the fun day in Torrox.

Enjoying a balmy day At the El Ancla beach restaurant, supporters made another €1500 towards the swimming pool appeal. With music provided by local bands, sideshows, a BBQ, and an array of stalls to entertain and amuse, a crowd of well-wishers turned out to support the event and meet some of the children from La Ciudad de Los Niños.

“Everyone enjoyed the day, especially the children, they spent hours playing splat the rat, pitching horseshoes, beat the goalie, darting the card or simply enjoying some great music. It was a pleasure seeing their smiling faces when they finally left clutching a mountain of prizes and sweets they had won on the sideshows”, said Brian Marsh, chairman of LIVE

“ The support was amazing and I want to thank everyone who worked so hard to make a great day at Torrox. We want to have the pool installed for when the school summer holiday starts at the end of June. Sending Our Collective Light to the World

Like tiny ripples that merge to form great waves, combined human intent is worth more than the sum of its parts. A single individual can initiate worldwide improvement by emitting conscious frequencies of love, beauty, goodness, and wisdom. A group of people focusing their energy on sending out light to the world can set the stage for positive global transformation.

All of us possess the ability to channel love energy, to heal, to be a conduit for white light, and to positively influence our fellow humans from afar. Yet one person can only do so much. Imagine if each one of us took a few moments at the start of each day to send out light to the world from our hearts. Mother Earth would be quickly eased and the planet, as well as every organism and being on it, would be bathed in loving light. The world would be an infinitely beautiful place.

You can help bring about an earth where love triumphs over violence, air and water are nourishing in their purity, and people take pleasure in simply being alive. Alone, the light you emit is a wonderful healing tool, but when you join with others who share your intent to shine compassion and positive energy over the world, a powerful force is created. Your collective consciousness and collective light will wash over the planet, enveloping people, communities, cities, countries, and continents.

Inviting others to send light with you can be a daunting task. People may question the benefits of sending light to an already broken world. You will likely need to explain that each person's light joins with every other, and through the joining all are strengthened. Assure them that what matters is not technique or what religion or beliefs you hold but intent. As more people come in mindfulness to send their collective light to the world, the power of their planetary gift will increase exponentially.

You may already be affiliated with groups that would gladly participate in such a noble project. Children, who often feel incapable of influencing their world yet are reservoirs of innate power are usually enthusiastic about sharing their collective light. As you gather together willing people, your individual intent will become a great and powerful wave, and you will see results in your fellow humans, in the news, and in your daily life.

Cindy Barnes: your host and organizer

Grapevine Ladies Luncheon Club - a great way to get together with friends, meet new ones, listen to interesting speakers from all professions, and enjoy wonderful meals at the same time.

Grapevine Ladies Luncheon Club was established in November 1994 as a monthly gathering for the international community wanting to establish friendships and further their knowledge on a variety of topics.

The meetings have been held at the Los Naranjos Golf Club for the past 13 years where the ladies have enjoyed the comfort of the members' lounge for the talks and the lovely 3 course meals downstairs in the Restaurant. The venue has since changed and meetings are now held at Ogilvy & Mailer. The luncheon price is € 30 per person and includes a three course meal with a glass of wine, tea or coffee.

A speaker is invited to give a talk on their specialist subject and on occasion the club has had celebrity speakers, i.e. Wayne Sleep and Alex Best. The topics cover anything from medicine, alternative therapies, authors, real life, spiritual experiences, etc. Twice a year, the Club holds a seasonal fashion show and occasionally we have cookery or flower arranging demonstrations.
At every Luncheon there will always be one or more lucky prize draws that are donated by speakers or members /non members wanting to promote their business.

Membership details: €25 per year for social membership only and €50 per year for social & business promotion. Non members are most welcome if there is space available.

The Stock Exchange Recent Upward Trend
Investor confidence is on the increase, but Spain still needs solid structural reforms

Analysts have been treading very carefully around the events which have been taking place over these first three months of the year. During the first two months, the stock exchange trend was largely negative and experienced sharp falls. This was predominantly caused by the avalanche of negative macroeconomic data and the bad news coming from the USA, where all major banks have been suffering large-scale liquidity and solvency problems since the end of 2008.

Armed with such negative data, uncertainty took hold of the market. During the last two weeks of February and the first week of March, there have been severe falls on the stock exchange and the IBEX (Spanish Stock Market Index) lost 7,000 points.

Throughout the last three weeks in March, the trend has been reversed due to by positive news from the most important American banks, which announced profits during the first two months of this year.

Additional good news include an improvement in investor confidence, a slight increase in retail sales and the positive statement from the Federal Reserve announcing that the American economy will pull through the crisis by the end of 2009. This week, this worthwhile news has allowed us to exceed once more the barrier of 8,000 points.

Tax Incentives. Unfortunately, the situation of the Spanish economy is not nearly as promising as that of the USA. As much as the Government made an important contribution by increasing public expenditure, public employment, regional budgets and extending public credit sales for the banks, with public deficit hitting 7% we have very little room left for manoeuvring.

It is necessary for Spain to implement substantial structural reforms which will serve as a tax stimulus. Banks, the private sector, unions and the Government must be brought together to reach a consensus on which measures to take in order to escape this crisis we are immersed in.
