Water Missions International: Changing lifes through sustainable water systems

One of "The Best of Marbella" goals is to create a new awareness about Marbella, focus on the positive, support the local economy and all charity projects, not only in Marbella, but worldwide such as Christian organization Water Missions International.

Water is critical to life, health, and sustainable development. Yet, worldwide, more than a billion people do not have access to this basic resource. More than two billion do not have adequate sanitation. Every day, an estimated 25,000 people die from a lack of safe water and sanitation.

Water Missions International (WMI) is a nonprofit, Christian engineering organization serving the water and sanitation needs of people in developing countries and disaster areas. WMI uses low-maintenance, appropriate water technologies for drinking water treatment and distribution, wastewater management, and storm water control.

WMI's mission is to provide sustainable access to safe water and an opportunity to hear the "Living Water" message in developing countries and disaster areas. WMI's vision is that no person should perish for want of safe drinking water or an opportunity to hear the "Living Water" message.

Clean water is the source of life. It is the foundation for health, education, and viable economies. Through the generous support of individuals, churches, nonprofits, and businesses, WMI has brought relief and hope to more than a million people across the globe. The Life-saving work of Water Missions International is only possible with the faithful support of donors, volunteers, and partners.

Smithwood Productions, TV, DVD, Radio, CD, Internet Media

Formed in 1993, Smithwood Productions provided the Costa del Sol foreign residents with English language TV on “The Entertainment Channel” for 5 years before moving into the corporate video sector. We are still very active in television production albeit for broadcast outside of Spain.

Programmes we have worked on include; “This is your life” - BBC “Wish you were here” – ITV “Tonight with Trevor Mac Donald - Lottery disasters” - ITV Our most recent TV work was for a game manufacturer in the form of their new advert “Shark” to promote the game “Articulate”. We provided the casting, crew, location clearance and equipment, click here to view the video "Articulate - Shark" Smithwood Productions’ many corporate clients include MRI (Mac Anthony Realty International – now known as MRI Overseas Property).

In September 2005, Mac Anthony Realty International commissioned Smithwood Productions to produce their first corporate DVD. This was a major production as MRI had offices in no less than 8 countries, and filming of each office’s region was to be one of the main features of the DVD. Smithwood Productions contracted film crews around the world to shoot the necessary footage, which included the countries culture, lifestyle and property. We were able to advise and guide them at all times by using our own internet “Video streaming” service to show the style and type of shot needed.

In addition to these “travelogue” videos we set up a TV style interview conducted by well-known television journalist John Stapleton (GMTV), with MRI Chairman Darragh MacAnthony, using MRI headquarters as the “Studio”.

Other videos on the DVD give an overview of the Aftersales service, Inspection trip process, an insight into Finance/Currency/Mortgages in foreign lands and Client testimonials. The amount of production needed in this project would normally take well over 4 months to do but we were able to finish the first version of the DVD in less than three months, with the actual DVD being mastered on New Years Day, something we will not forget for a while! Oh, and we also made a 14-minute “Bloopers” special DVD for the MRI Christmas party at “Olivia Valère’s Babylonia Palace” in Marbella.

Three weeks after presenting the first version of the DVD to Darragh and his board, I am proud to say we were asked to start work on version two, as MRI had added new countries to their list, we have gone on to make 4 updated versions. Many of our corporate clients videos and radio adverts are accessible on our website Smithwood Productions video and audio.

INTERNET VIDEO

As the internet got faster, so our video and audio streaming service grew. No longer was it a gimmick to have a video on your website, it was necessary! Companies’ products or services could be shown visually to anyone, anywhere, anytime. And so our production style grew to encompass “internet-style” format.

Many of our existing clients have since commissioned us to produce videos for You Tube.

High speed internet has also enabled us to offer our popular service “Target Radio” to a wider client base. This “Radio” service allows shops, offices, commercial centres etc to have their own “In-Store Radio”, playing their own adverts and promotions, with a music selection of their choice. Previously this necessitated installing a computer running sophisticated radio station software on the premises, and this was costly.

But now we can provide the same service via the internet, with an audio stream unique to each client, at a fraction of the cost.

If a business has multiple stores/offices they can all switch on to the company radio, OR we can supply each outlet with a different stream, enabling each store to have its own adverts and promotions independently of the others in the same chain.
