The Starlite Gala in Marbella 2011

  Antonio Banderas and Eva Longoria

The Starlite Gala returns on 06 August 2011 to Marbella
the most important, and one of the best charity events in Spain.

Almost 500 attendees, more than 40 celebrities and 300 journalists was what made the first edition of the Starlite Gala in 2010 one of the most important events in Spain. The Starlite Gala is an international platform which unites the world of Business, Celebrities and Phylanthropy hosted by Antonio Banderas and Eva Longoria. A project founded by Sandra García-Sanjuán and María Bravo whose objective is to raise funds to improve the quality of life for communities, families, and children in need.

The I Edition of the Starlite Gala which took place in 2010 had a media repercussion far more than was expected, with over 190 accredited media and an audience of over 57m in Spain.  Media coverage converted into figures means 376 headlines with an economic value with more than €8m  from what was published during the month of August.  The valuation of international coverage exceeded 90m from published articles in the international press in the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, Russia, Malaysia, Canada, Brazil and Middle East.
The Gala was a resounding success which, by far, exceeded our objectives and all money raised was destined to the three charities and the following projects were materialized:

Carlos Alberto Madrazo school was built by Niños en Alegria Foundation, in  Acapulco. The school was inaugurated at the end of 2010 with 258 children.  Kindergarden Tierra y Libertad is also being built for 100 children in Pie de la Cuesta development, one of the most affected areas of Guerrero (Acapulco).

Eva Longoria's Foundation, The Eva Longoria Fund, financed 60 social integration programs for poor children and adolescents with problems of development.

Antonio Bandera's Foundation, Lagrimas y Favores, created 30 scholarships through the University of Malaga. The Foundation also channelled social aid through Caritas and financed treatment programs for the terminally ill of cancer through the Cudeca Foundation. For this reason the II Edition of the Starlite Gala is being repeated this year on 6th August with a lot more effort, enthusiasm and objectives together with Eva Longoria and Antonio Banderas.

The Best of Marbella Founder, Maria Petrak, had a great pleasure to meet one of the Founders of the Starlite Gala, Maria Bravo, during her summer holidays in Marbella in July 2011. The result of this encounter is not only a deep appreciation for Maria Bravo´s enthusiasm, beauty and kindess, but hopefully a long-lasting friendship despite of distance. Maria Petrak lives in Vienna, Austria and continues to promote Marbella as one of the best cities in the world through one of her websites http://www.thebestofmarbella.com/.

Tribute To A Beautiful Lady by Dario Poli

"Tribute To A Beautiful Lady"

Inspired by the original article from Dario Poli

Spain has been fortunate for British artist, author and composer Dario Poli, known to his contemporaries as the “Renaissance man.” For it was here that he found the inspiration to originate and produce one of his finest musical achievements “Lady X and The Power of Destiny” in a creative collaboration with Puerto Banus’s living legend Patrick Lloyd Hulme.

The musical drama, originally composed as a celebration of England’s favourite princess, based on the late Diana Princess of Wales. For the composers  it became a long mystical and spiritual journey, an exploration of Diana’s enigmatic character, her emotions, her motivations, and her fascination with the phenomenon of love. Their meticulous research into every facet of her life has resulted in a work, which has great profundity and truth to life, while acknowledging the gaiety and brilliance of a beautiful, if flawed aristocrat.

The project tells of Diana’s rise and fall, her golden yet tragic plight, in a sensitive and heartfelt piece of work that will stand the test of time, much as the light of her life will transcend the generations. Two men started a project, inspired by the muse, a project that tragically turned into a mission for the truth – to capture the innocence of her life and a light that was lost but never to be forgotten.
It was first registered in Marbella with S.G.A.E before her death; a tragedy, which galvanized the composers into re-writing almost the entire work and then re-registering the work in Malaga. The financial backers brought in by Dario, were fascinated by the quality of the music and story line, supported the composers enthusiasm and ideas, and the work was then legally constituted in Holland and Ireland.

With this funding the two men approached one of Britain’s leading musical professionals, the renowned musical director – David Redston – who, after studiously appraising their story, agreed to work with them on the project and conducted the orchestra and directed the numerous superb vocalists on the recording.

The musical drama was recorded by a symphony orchestra, opera singers and  including some singers from Riverdance at the famed Westland Studio Dublin.  These complex recordings and rehearsals, were directed by David Redston  following intensive rehearsals at RTE studios Dublin. It was produced by Richard Pine on the 11 September 2000, with Dario and Patrick in close attendance as advisors overseeing the work. It was engineered by Bob Somerville and was later mixed by David Redston and Bob Sommerville. Richard Pine: http://www.durrell-school-corfu.org/pine.htm

It is a powerful and imaginative, two-act fictional musical drama of a total 2 hrs 45 minutes duration, specifically produced by its creators, to explore the tumultuous life of Lady X, a beautiful aristocrat and her entangled loves. Drawing into focus the esoteric factor X, the irresistible power of destiny and its mysterious design, that inexorably acts throughout her life.

The drama intricately woven around her, expresses a gamut of emotions, containing a haunting sense of tragic premonition, which unfolds, as the complexity of her life and charisma is explored and skilfully brought to life, by the innovative story; the sensitive and incisive power of the music, words and musical arrangements.

The musical effect simply carries the songs from the hearts and minds of Dario Poli and Patrick Lloyd Hulme, into the heart and soul of the listener. The result of the collaboration between Dario and Patrick, David Redston, the orchestra and the vocalists is truly mesmerizing and can confidently be described as ‘touching and very beautiful’

Richard Pine wrote “…. the recording demonstrates…its emotional appeal, the immediate catchiness of its rhythms and lyrics, and the richness of the orchestral texture.” … “The jewel at the heart of the musical remains that what it had been from the outset, …a celebration of her life, beauty and demeanour.”

He continued on the CD cover of Diana  - “ The musical differs from other productions in its truth to life, its deep appreciation of the circumstances which combined to bring the aristocratic girl, Lady Diana Spencer, to the point where she became Diana, Princess of Wales, and beyond it to the divorce court, to disillusion and death. The unique selling proposition of the composers is its powerful combination of singable tunes and a haunting sense of premonition.

Dario wrote; the moral of their story is simply that, “what we say and do to other people effects and shapes their lives, whether for good or bad. Therefore, each individual has his or her own personal responsibility to manage their actions towards others”. This becomes very clear in the final moments of the Opera.

The former secretary general of the UN - Mr Kofi Annan in Marbella

Marbella, Costa del Sol in Spain is seen as one of the most popular tourism hotspots in the world, however, there is 'much more than a wonderful climate, glamour, luxury and famous parties.

This article is inspired by the two original articles from:
Marbella Marbella: Dario Poli:
World Conference on Climate Change and Wine and
Kofi Annan addresses the world

Over 800 participants attended the recent talk by Kofi Annan at The 3rd World Conference on Climate Change and Wine from 13-14 April in The Palacio de Congreso in Marbella. Marbella was the  chosen venue by the Wine Academy of Spain to present the largest and widest selection of fine wines with an inspiring collection of speakers on the subject of climate change in the business of winemaking.
Pancho Campo MW, Kofi Annan and the mayoress of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz

Since the end of his secretary post in the United Nations in 2006, Kofi Annan has been devoted to the protection and development of social causes all over the world. The former Secretary-General has been championing the importance of economic, social and environmental sustainability throughout his career at the United Nations. He believes this is the key to “reduce the environmental impact for future generations”.

The climate change challenge was the main focus of Mr. Annan’s speech on the first day of the III World Congress on Climate Change and Wine. Mr Annan’s conference was titled “The Global Compact: A challenge in the business word to become leaders in sustainable development” (13th of April. 18.00 h.) and was introduced by Pancho Campo MW.

The conference was directed to the Business community on the Coast and focuses on the importance of adapting to sustainable measures in order to deal with climate change. The conference was open to businessmen and the general public. After the conference there wias a 30 minute session of questions and answers with the 2001 Nobel Peace Prize winner. On the evening of April 13th, Kofi Annan and his wife joined the mayoress of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz and attended the official dinner, that took  place in La Cabane, Hotel Los Monteros. This dinner wias held in aid of the charity Vicente Ferrer Foundation.

Last November in a climate change conference in Switzerland, Mr Annan explained the impact of this phenomenon in sectors where high irrigation is needed, such as agriculture or farming: “The gradual increase in temperature is producing in increase in the seawater. This causes more floods and less frost”, which is crucial for the growth of some grape varieties. In this speech, the Secretary-General will reiterate the responsibility of businesses and individuals to address environmental challenges; undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; protect human rights; and encourage the development and transfer of environmentally-sustainable technologies.

A report released by the Forum in May of 2009 estimated that climate change is responsible for the deaths of 300,000 people every year, with 325 million of the poorest suffering most. All its work ultimately aims to be of benefit to the most vulnerable, particularly those living in least developed countries. In an address to the World Economic Forum in 1999, he challenged business leaders to join an international initiative – the Global Compact – that would bring companies together with UN agencies, as well as labour and civil society, to promote and respect universal environmental and social principles.

This III World Congress on Climate Change and Wine (http://www.cambioclimaticoyvino.com/) will rely on professionals in this field who have already begun implementing new concepts in Spain and abroad.  In order to fight climate change, Campo believes that we need to focus on two issues: one of prevention, which would aid in diminishing CO2 emissions as well as energy costs; and mitigation and adaptation directed specifically to vineyards and wineries.

The Wine Academy of Spain is a private organization founded in 2003 by Pancho Campo MW, the first Spaniard to hold the title Master of Wine. It focuses its activities on the education of wine professionals and amateurs; the international promotion of Spanish wine through its Spanish Wine Experience; the promotion of Spain as a destination for wine tourism; the analysis of the impact of climate change on the industry; and study trips to wine producing regions with the collaboration of the University of California Davis (US). It is also an Approved Programme Provider for the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET), which it promulgates in Spain; has organised the internationally-acclaimed conferences Climate Change & Wine, Wine Future-Rioja ’09, and Vinoble Jerez 2010.

Promote Goodwill.org

Wouldn't you like to see everyone, everywhere embrace the concepts of peace and nonviolence? Okay, now prove it! What if I told you that you could promote the peacebuilding paradigm without having to leave the comfort of your own home? No signs to make, no marches to organize and attend, no speeches to make. What if you could do it from where you are sitting right now... Here's the tip... Whenever you run across content on the internet that promotes the peacebuilding ideas that you like (like this one), forward it further:  submit it to Reddit or Digg, re-tweet it in Twitter, share it on Facebook, e-mail it to friends or promote it in whatever way you usually promote content you like. Most authors make this easy to do by including a "Share" link somewhere on the post.

With a little more effort, you can help shift the global conversation toward peacebuilding by commenting on articles and blog posts, letting people know about DoPeace, the campaign to create a U.S. Department of Peace, and the Youth PROMISE act.

Goodwill is a contagious and potent energy.  By its means, peace can eventually be established on earth.  Through its intelligently applied use the dynamics of human interaction can be positively changed in a short period of time.  PromoteGoodwill.org is focused on practical methods for spreading this powerful force throughout humanity, in every region of the world.  With the co-operation of men and women of goodwill across the globe this energy will stream into the hearts of people in all departments of life, affecting the change necessary to achieve peace.  This is PromoteGoodwill.org's primary purpose - promoting goodwill through training and education."

The immediate spiritual problem with which all are faced, is the problem of gradually offsetting hate and initiating the new technique of trained, imaginative, creative and practical goodwill.

"Goodwill is man's first attempt to express the love of God.  Its results on earth will be peace.  It is so simple and practical that people fail to appreciate its potency or its scientific and dynamic affect.  One person sincerely practicing goodwill in a family, can completely change its attitudes. Goodwill really practiced among groups in any nation, by political and religious parties in any nation, and among the nations of the world, can revolutionize the world". Problems of Humanity, by Alice A. Bailey

Tips on Promoting Goodwill

Below we have listed some things we all can do daily ( and do much better ) toward helping foster a greater measure of Right Human Relations with all our relationships.  Whether or not you become actively involved with PromoteGoodwill.org you can help pursue this vision by Promoting Goodwill as you go about your daily affairs.  Promoting Goodwill is easy and really only takes a conscious effort on our part to adjust our speech, thoughts, mannerisms and tolerances.  And to approach each interactive situation with a co-operative heart...and a display of harmlessness.  How many of us actually try consciously to interact each and every day with a spirit of harmlessness in our thoughts, words and actions?  Thoughts are directed energy - construct ones that are positive - yes, even when it is difficult.  This is what we mean by conscious effort.  When we begin to try consciously to effect our every day surroundings positive things take place.  Attitudes at home and work change for the better.  We are not saying you are going to be perfect every day in your conscious endeavor to Promote Goodwill.  What we hope to achieve is to demonstrate a greater degree of harmlessness - a greater measure of Right Human Relations through our daily activities.  If you believe you are being efficient 20% of your day in your Goodwill Promotion efforts, try for 30% - 40%.  This is what we are trying to accomplish here - lots of people doing their best to achieve a greater measure of harmlessness in their lives.  Please read some of the thoughts listed below - they are in no particular order.

1. Don't criticize others, directly or indirectly.
2. Be less confrontational over differences.
3. Don't think bad thoughts about others - remember energy follows thought!
4. Help where you can help - make those sacrifices on behalf of others - physically, emotionally, and mentally.
5. Meet others halfway - you can do this more than you think!
6. Be less prone to argue - how many arguments are over truly stupid things?
7. Be more tolerant of other's opinions, viewpoints, beliefs, religions, national and racial cultures.
8. Don't hesitate to be supportive.
9. Don't force your will or beliefs on others - remember...just because we believe something doesn't make us right, or mean it is the only possibility, truth or answer!
10. Watch your word usage - some words just aren't necessary!
11. Negotiate business transactions with a spirit of co-operative goodwill.
12. Try and resolve disputes with your adversaries - be more understanding of the positions of others.
13. Conduct business with an attitude of giving and sharing rather than one of taking.
14. Touch others with a kind gesture for no reason.
15. Make it obvious you are a role model for the promotion of goodwill in your family, work environment and community and as a result others will want to be around you and look to you for help and support - you are contagious!

The Mind Guru: Will Smith video

Amazing but true, all that we need comes to us at the right time and in the right place, especially when we trust, believe and allow it to happen.

One of my special friends from Vienna sent me an e-mail with some highly inspirational videos and links and after opening them I had no other choice but share them with the rest of the world. No matter where you are (I know at the moment we have readers from approx. 90 countries), this information may help you and if not you, then maybe someone else.

Since I was born, I always believed in doing good in the world, no matter how small and insignificant my actions may be. We always "plant seeds" that grow and develop. Writing blog articles is like planting "seeds", not knowing who will enjoy the scent of the beautiful "flowers" when they grow... The video below from Will Smith touched my heart and it is my greatest pleasure to share it with you with the wish to inspire you and motivate you as it inspired me.

I strongly believe that if I can´t help someone in some way, I am wasting my time. So my dear readers, enjoy this unusual blog article and especially the below video that also appears on the Best of Vienna blog that I just started recently.

Even though it has nothing to do with Marbella or Vienna, it is my great pleasure to introduce you to "The Mind Guru": http://themindguru.wordpress.com/2010/01/23/wills-wisdom/

The wisdom that is shared here is global and for all those people that are willing to learn, improve and make our Planet a better place...

"Not only one of my favorite actors, but also one of my biggest inspirations: Will Smith is one of the most successful people on the planet." Watch this highly inspirational video and the most important: act upon it...

Eleven of the Costa del Sols finest singers banded together in collaboration with Rowetta on Saturday 13th February, and with just 4 days notice, and a month after the devastating earthquake, to record a charity single for Haiti at one of Europe´s top International Studios based in Marbella. Predominately widely unknown artists, and in cases raw talent; the first line and Italian duet sung by 15 year old Rebecca Tate. Banding together simply for the cause to help the people of Haiti, and on zero budget; a world away from the corporate music industry, we believe it has still resulted in a remarkable achievement.
A cover version of Céline Dion and Andrea Bocelli´s highly emotional song “The Prayer”, which won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song from the film Quest for Camelot in 1999; this charity version renamed “The Prayer for Haiti”. The single is initially released as an internet download only, royalty free, by kind permission of writers David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager & Andrea Bocelli.

This recording, parts sung in Italian, English and also Spanish, is a fantastic eclectic mix of singing styles, and features ITV´s X Factor finalist Rowetta, now acclaimed Tenor Stephen Lloyd-Morgan, Spain´s 15 year old WoWFactor runner-up Rebecca Tate, the equally brilliant voices of Mayte, Daniel Boland, The Unity Gospel Singers and the popular classical group Tres Divos.

Produced by Nick Holland & Stephen Lloyd-Morgan in association with Maurice Boland of Talk Radio Europe and Essential Marbella Magazine; they were inspired to record this single after the overwhelming response to Stephen & Rebecca singing The Prayer at The Gala Dinner for Haiti held at La Quinta Golf on 5th February organised by Maurice. A YouTube Video of the song also received over 500 hits in just a few days! You can view the video below:
The phenomenal generosity of so many has once again shown no bounds, allowing this single to be recorded, produced and promoted totally free. 100% of the proceeds from sales will go directly to the Ark Christian Fellowship, a part of the Child Care Ministries, which has had a presence in Haiti for over 8 years. Some valuable comments from Antonia Muñoz – Alcaldesa de Manilva (Mayor of Manilva) – “The Prayer for Haiti”

“We are extremely proud and would very much like to convey our congratulations to the producers of the charity single (CD) `The Prayer for Haiti´. Resident British Expatriates from the Municipality of Manilva, Stephen Lloyd-Morgan and Nick Holland, have recorded this single in collaboration with Talk Radio Europe and Essential Marbella Magazine, to help the desperate orphans of Haiti and they hope to raise enough to build a new school. We very much commend their efforts and that of the entire expatriate community who are banding together to raise much needed funds for this worthy cause through the sale of this single(CD).” – 4th March 2010

Valuable comments from Jose Luis Hernández – Tourist Councilor Marbella Town hall regarding
“The Prayer for Haiti”

“Marbella City Council considers that the expat community is giving us an example of generosity and commitment in view of the magnitude of the devastation suffered by Haiti. Marbella can feel proud because —even in these moments of economic crisis— our society, and particularly our expat community, is giving such an evident proof of commitment with the suffering of human beings that did not have anything before the tragedy and, after it, the only thing they have is pain and hopelessness. We hope your fund raising initiative be as successful as possible. On behalf of Marbella City Council, receive our most sincere thanks and our acknowledgement for your humanitarian work.” – 4th March 2010

Happy New Year 2010

The Best of Marbella wishes you
Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year 2010!

For many of us, 2009 has been very challenging, however, with lots of opportunities and learning experiences which made us wiser and stronger.

Let´s hope that 2010 will bring us hope for peace in the world, stability, health and happiness, awareness that no matter how small our contribution in this world is, we can still contribute to some positive changes, even if we only sign a petition, make a donation or volunteer our time to a good cause... I am deeply grateful for so many gifts in my life, starting from my 12 year old son, my family, friends and my business associates who mostly became my friends over the time. 2010 looks promising for creating even more success, abundance, connecting with many people, finding true friends and taking even more charge of our lifes...

Even though "The Best of Marbella" physically moved and expanded to Vienna, we are even more active than before. After the Christmas and New Year´s holidays, when we used this time to slow down, reflect and say goodbye to 2009, we are now prepared to embrace 2010. Happy New Year!

"May this New Year be one of Joy, abundance, good-will, peaceful awakenings and graceful journeys. May we have courage to look for the blessing in every moment, and the audacity to celebrate it!

May compassion reign in our hearts and kindness ring through every word. May our waking dreams be filled
with joy, creativity and passionate pursuits. May our hearts and minds be joined as One; unified within, so without.

May we remember we are all Children of the Earth: kindred spirits, brothers and sisters, members of the Great family of Love.

May we choose Love over fear; unity and harmony over separation and discord. May we have the strength to claim our authentic power; standing true in Word, action and deed, and with firm resolve, BE the change we wish to see in the world.

May our children see the Light of Love in our eyes. May our elders be honored for the wisdom each bears. May every Heart trust they are Divinely endowed with the birth-right to thrive, and wake each day celebrating the Great-Full-Ness of life.

May we remember Heaven is within our Hearts, opening our eyes to the sacred in all things. May we breathe prayers of thanks into each moment, and with reverence honor the gift this Life brings."

Happy New Year in many languages:
Arabic: Kul 'aam u antum salimoun
Brazilian: Boas Festas e Feliz Ano Novo means "Good Parties and Happy New Year"

Urgent petition: Copenhagen climate summit

Urgent - Crisis in Copenhagen

Hi everyone,
I just joined over 14 million people in the world's largest-ever campaign to keep us all safe. There has never been a more important time to add your name - our message is being delivered to leaders at the Copenhagen climate summit in the final hours.

Please add your voice now at http://www.avaaz.org/en/save_copenhagen/
Many thanks!

Leaders are frantically doing in hours what they've failed to do for years, but we're still far from a pact that will stop catastrophic global warming of 2 degrees -- and the talks could still collapse. We know our pressure is working, let's use these crucial final hours to ramp it up, and get a real deal, not a dressed-up weak agreement. Sign the staggering 14 million person petition below, and send this message or link to everyone: http://www.avaaz.org/en/save_copenhagen

The petition has become the centre of the global revolt against failure in Copenhagen. The names of petition signers are being read out by young people who have taken over spaces in the Copenhagen summit and in governments round the world, including the US State Department and the Canadian Prime Minister's office.

Here again the original email you can forward to your friends:

World leaders have begun the final hours of direct negotiations. The UK Prime Minister has directly appealed to Avaaz to build the tidal wave of public pressure needed to reach a deal that stops catastrophic global warming of 2 degrees.

Click below to sign the petition for a real deal -- the campaign already has a staggering 11 million supporters -- over the next 48 hours let's make it the largest petition in history! The name of every signer is being read out right now in the summit hall -- sign on at the link below and forward this message to everyone!
http://www.avaaz.org/en/save_copenhagen/

"We are making history in Copenhagen. A group of young people have sat down in the middle of the summit and begun reading the names of every person who signs the petition for a real deal. Another group is doing the same 'petition reading sit-in' in the Canadian Prime Minister's office, and rumours are that more such actions will happen today. On an emergency conference call with 3000 Avaaz members today, UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown said:

"What you're doing through the internet around the world is absolutely crucial to setting the agenda. In the next 48 hours, don't underestimate your effect on the leaders here in Copenhagen"

Earlier, millions watched the Avaaz vigil inside the summit on TV, where Archbishop Desmond Tutu told hundreds of delegates and assembled children:
“We marched in Berlin, and the wall fell.
"We marched for South Africa, and apartheid fell.
"We marched at Copenhagen -- and we WILL get a Real Deal.”

Copenhagen is seeking the biggest mandate in history to stop the greatest threat humanity has ever faced. History will be made in the next 48 hours. How will our children remember this moment? Let's tell them we did all we could."

With hope and determination,

Ricken, Alice, Ben, Paul, Luis, Iain, Veronique, Graziela, Pascal, Paula, Benjamin, Raj, Raluca, Taren, David, Josh and the whole Avaaz team.

The Best of Marbella is pleased to introduce the ELS: International Lawyers with their offices in Spain (Fuengirola), close to Marbella and the U.K.

We chose to work with ELS for many reasons; one of them is the fact that their philosophy is simple: their ethics are of high standard and their clients are their greatest asset, which ensures the top quality of their services. We met ELS during one of the B2B networking meetings and were truly impressed by their enthusiastic and highly inspiring presentation. It was so clear that their work is driven by passion and genuine care for their clients.

ELS International Lawyers provides a 24/7 service to best accommodate the legal and business requirements of their clients and associates, from private individuals to Large corporations. They adopt a hand on approach that is modern, refreshingly lacking in formality, user friendly, yet combining intellectual rigour with energy and enthusiasm, enabling us to understand and facilitate any legal requirements, but always in a down to earth approachable manner.

What makes ELS stand out?
Unlike some Law firms who market themselves to U.K. clients, ELS is a firm established by both U.K. and Spanish Lawyers, therefore ELS have a unique insight and understanding of the often diverse requirements and concerns of their clients, in particular when dealing with International issues.

ELS teams are dynamic, international, multi-lingual and exceptionally versatile. To all the Best of Marbella members and associates, ELS team in Fuengirola is offering a unique offer: a first free consultation and a 10% discount on the legal fees (however not on the services included in “legal basics by ELS” which prices have already been reduced to the minimum).

Independent – Some of the legal firms based on the Costa del Sol do not act independently looking after the client’s interest. ELS are proud to guarantee that they always act protecting the interest of their clients independently.

Multilingual – ELS lawyers speak English and Spanish as well as the rest of the staff. We also speak French, Dutch and German.

Communication – One of the most usual complaints that our new clients have related to their previous lawyers is the lack of communication. We are proud to guarantee a fluent communication in a proactive way.

International – We have collaboration agreements with different law firms in various countries (UK, Portugal, Belgium, Turkey, Morocco, etc..)

Key areas we cover:
1. Civil law: Debt claim, Community related issues, Inheritance process, Evictions, Family law, etc.
2. Criminal Law: Fraud, Embezzlement etc.
3. General: Bankruptcy processes, Conveyance, Enforcements, Car accidents, Wills, etc...

Inspiring article about the California Women Conference 2009

We found this interesting and highly inspiring article about the Women´s Conference 2009 in California
It is our great pleasure to share it with the Best of Marbella readers:

Maria Shriver Hosts Women’s Conference 2009
Posted By Alison Agudo on October 27th, 2009

"As anticipated, the 2009 Women’s Conference currently taking place in Long Beach, California is turning out to be a quite a star-studded and inspiring sold-out event. With the intentions to invigorate, empower, and educate women, the theme “Architects of Change” challenges women to take control of their own destinies, while supporting others to do the same.

As the largest and undisputedly most dynamic gathering of powerful women in the nation, the Women’s Conference, hosted by California First Lady Maria Shriver and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, brings together women from all walks of life, with varying backgrounds and perspectives for a life-altering experience. This year, expanded to two full days of inspiring speakers, sessions, and events, the Women’s Conference held a new A Day of Transformation session and Night at The Village on October 26, followed by an additional day of speakers and self-empowering transformation and success stories.

With tickets to the event selling out within two hours, this year Shriver and Gov. Schwarzenegger are joined by influential individuals, internationally-acclaimed leaders, visionaries, and authors such as, Sir Richard Branson, Katie Couric, Elizabeth Edwards, Dr. Jane Goodall, David Gregory, Valerie B. Jarrett, Caroline Kennedy, Alicia Keys, Annie Leibovitz, and 14,000 women in one arena, plus many more via the web.

As an award-winning journalist herself, Shriver approaches the conference as “a place for once-in-a-lifetime conversations and news-making moments that combine the world’s most authentic and influential voices in discussions about the issues that matter most to women.”

Some highlights from the event’s main stage conversations include Robin Roberts moderating a conversation on Leadership Decisions in Tough Times with Gov. Schwarzenegger, FDIC Chairwoman Sheila C. Bair, and Sir Branson; David Gregory moderating a conversation on How a Woman’s Nation Changes Everything with former Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright, Amy Holmes, Valerie B. Jarrett, and Claire Shipman; Shriver moderating a main stage conversation on Grief, Healing and Resilience with Elizabeth Edwards, Susan Saint James, and Lisa Niemi; Katie Couric moderating a conversation with Leibovitz; and Robin Roberts moderating a second conversation on Overcoming the Unimaginable with Gayle Haggard, Elizabeth and Lois Smart and Wife Without Limbs President and Founder Nick Vujicic.

Shriver comments, “We encourage women to pass on the wisdom, life-lessons, and practical tools they have learned [at the conference] to empower other women to see themselves capable of making a difference in the world.”

Kids Umbrella: Action for Universal Education

Invitation to unite for a mutual cause
The world is facingt two very serious and challenging threats: illiteracy and poverty.

These two threaths go hand-in-hand, so by fighting illiteracy we can also fight poverty. Vulnerable children around thr world, who lack access to basic education, must be reached NOW!

The United Nations has set as its target to provide basic universal education for all children around the world by the year 2015. This is a vital goal and if reached by all nations, it would guarantee a better and safer world for everyone. The Sven Tumba Education Fund believes that education acts as a mental vaccine against drugs, crime, violence and preventable diseases such as HIF/AIDS. Children who read and write are also more capable of adapting to a constantly changing world. The children of today will be the leaders and entrepreneurs of the world tomorrow. Every child has the right to grow up with love, with play, with sports and, above all, with education. It is the responsibility of all global citizens to help prevent children from growing up illiterate and we must act now!

Through STEF Worldwide - the Sven Tumba Education Fund - much insight into the problem of illiteracy has been achieved. And the early establishment of the program "Sport for Education", http://www.sportforeducation.org/, building on the universal interest for sports, contributes to cut through red tapes and bureaucracy to really reach the children in the field.

In response to the urgent call for action by STEF Worldwide, support by a growing number or artists, athletes, politicians, and other influential individuals from all over the world has been documented.

Here is where KIDS UMBRELLA comes in:
The formation of KIDS UMBRELLA is the result of such experience, therfore offering an organized joint action to Charity Organizations from all over the world and shring the same goal:
to help children in need!

Inspirational message: global transformation

It is my great pleasure to share an inspirational message that I received from my friend and former President of the VIC Society for Conscious Living located at the UN in Vienna. Please read it, I hope it will inspire you as it inspired me...

Sending Our Collective Light to the World
Like tiny ripples that merge to form great waves, combined human intent is worth more than the sum of its parts. A single individual can initiate worldwide improvement by emitting conscious frequencies of love, beauty, goodness, and wisdom. A group of people focusing their energy on sending out light to the world can set the stage for positive global transformation.

All of us possess the ability to channel love energy, to heal, to be a conduit for white light, and to positively influence our fellow humans from afar. Yet one person can only do so much. Imagine if each one of us took a few moments at the start of each day to send out light to the world from our hearts. Mother Earth would be quickly eased and the planet, as well as every organism and being on it, would be bathed in loving light. The world would be an infinitely beautiful place.

You can help bring about an earth where love triumphs over violence, air and water are nourishing in their purity, and people take pleasure in simply being alive. Alone, the light you emit is a wonderful healing tool, but when you join with others who share your intent to shine compassion and positive energy over the world, a powerful force is created. Your collective consciousness and collective light will wash over the planet, enveloping people, communities, cities, countries, and continents.

Inviting others to send light with you can be a daunting task. People may question the benefits of sending light to an already broken world. You will likely need to explain that each person's light joins with every other, and through the joining all are strengthened. Assure them that what matters is not technique or what religion or beliefs you hold but intent. As more people come in mindfulness to send their collective light to the world, the power of their planetary gift will increase exponentially.

You may already be affiliated with groups that would gladly participate in such a noble project. Children, who often feel incapable of influencing their world yet are reservoirs of innate power are usually enthusiastic about sharing their collective light. As you gather together willing people, your individual intent will become a great and powerful wave, and you will see results in your fellow humans, in the news, and in your daily life.

Water Missions International

Water Missions International: Changing lifes through sustainable water systems

One of "The Best of Marbella" goals is to create a new awareness about Marbella, focus on the positive, support the local economy and all charity projects, not only in Marbella, but worldwide such as Christian organization Water Missions International.

Water is critical to life, health, and sustainable development. Yet, worldwide, more than a billion people do not have access to this basic resource. More than two billion do not have adequate sanitation. Every day, an estimated 25,000 people die from a lack of safe water and sanitation.

Water Missions International (WMI) is a nonprofit, Christian engineering organization serving the water and sanitation needs of people in developing countries and disaster areas. WMI uses low-maintenance, appropriate water technologies for drinking water treatment and distribution, wastewater management, and storm water control.

WMI's mission is to provide sustainable access to safe water and an opportunity to hear the "Living Water" message in developing countries and disaster areas. WMI's vision is that no person should perish for want of safe drinking water or an opportunity to hear the "Living Water" message.

Clean water is the source of life. It is the foundation for health, education, and viable economies. Through the generous support of individuals, churches, nonprofits, and businesses, WMI has brought relief and hope to more than a million people across the globe. The Life-saving work of Water Missions International is only possible with the faithful support of donors, volunteers, and partners.
