The Starlite Gala returns on 06 August 2011 to Marbella: 

the most important, and one of the best charity events in Spain.

Almost 500 attendees, more than 40 celebrities and 300 journalists was what made the first edition of the Starlite Gala in 2010 one of the most important events in Spain. The Starlite Gala is an international platform which unites the world of Business, Celebrities and Phylanthropy hosted by Antonio Banderas and Eva Longoria. A project founded by Sandra García-Sanjuán and María Bravo whose objective is to raise funds to improve the quality of life for communities, families, and children in need.

The I Edition of the Starlite Gala which took place in 2010 had a media repercussion far more than was expected, with over 190 accredited media and an audience of over 57m in Spain.  Media coverage converted into figures means 376 headlines with an economic value with more than €8m  from what was published during the month of August.  The valuation of international coverage exceeded 90m from published articles in the international press in the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, Russia, Malaysia, Canada, Brazil and Middle East.

The Gala was a resounding success which, by far, exceeded our objectives and all money raised was destined to the three charities and the following projects were materialized:

Carlos Alberto Madrazo school was built by Niños en Alegria Foundation, in  Acapulco. The school was inaugurated at the end of 2010 with 258 children.  Kindergarden Tierra y Libertad is also being built for 100 children in Pie de la Cuesta development, one of the most affected areas of Guerrero (Acapulco).

Eva Longoria's Foundation, The Eva Longoria Fund, financed 60 social integration programs for poor children and adolescents with problems of development.

Antonio Bandera's Foundation, Lagrimas y Favores, created 30 scholarships through the University of Malaga. The Foundation also channelled social aid through Caritas and financed treatment programs for the terminally ill of cancer through the Cudeca Foundation. For this reason the II Edition of the Starlite Gala is being repeated this year on 6th August with a lot more effort, enthusiasm and objectives together with Eva Longoria and Antonio Banderas.

Dave Jackson: sings the classics

Dave Jackson, originally from London (Walthamstow born and bred, the land of such famous people as Iain Drury and the Blockheads and of course E17), started his musical career by playing Bass guitar and singing with a band who called themselves "The Force" (way ahead of their time with regard to Star Wars "May the force be with you"). The band was set up with school mates from the local secondary modern school "Chapel End" and played local British legion clubs and school gigs. At the same time as "Gigging" David was working nightclubs and various venues in the south east with a company called "Goodhews" with such now infamous people as "Peter Young" and "Dale Winton".


Whilst most of the "DJ's" went on to train at various local radios stations, David went to live in Australia in 1974 where he started his career on radio working in Queensland and later main stream AM and FM radios stations in the city of Brisbane; Sydney and Melbourne.

It wasn't until the introduction of Karaoke in the 80's that David really started to get into singing professionally, and went into session backing singing recording with Ozzy artists like "Kylie Minogue"; "Jason Donavon" "John Farnham" Crowded house (then split Enz) and many others, gaining a huge respect as a backing singer.

He was then offered a role that he couldn't turn down as "entertainments manager" singer and general all round entertainer in Australia's premier ski resort "THREDBO" working there from 1981 to 1992.

After a few years in the bar and restaurant industry, David moved to the Costa Del Sol to build a lovely Spanish Villa close to Marbella, where he entertained at literally hundreds of private weddings; parties; and functions; in addition to many of the Cost Del Sols finest restaurants and Time share resorts.

In 2007, David was one of the main presenters on a new and exciting TV project called "Living in Spain TV" which broadcast on Sky Digital channel 293, and made 2 series of programmes. One was an expat discussion programme called "Shut up I'm talking" and the other, an interview show called "Personally speaking with Dave Jackson" where he interviewed many famous and non famous people living on the Costa Del Sol.

David and his family are now based in the sleepy but beautiful Devonshire town of Totnes, but commutes to venues to sing in London; most of the UK and many European resorts including the Costa Del Sol. Blue Sky International were proud to celebrate 3 months of the Europe’s first ever F1 Experience at Centro Comercial Parque Miramar in Fuengirola on Friday 2nd October. Guests were given the opportunity to experience the thrills of driving a real Formula 1 car around over 60 of the world’s most exciting grand prix tracks. The car, built to an exact specification of today’s F1 cars, is mounted on pneumatic gas cylinders which allows the driver to feel the G-force and hear the crowd, creating one of the most intense driving experiences imaginable.

Born in Denmark to a Danish mother and a Spanish father, raised in Italy, Turkey, Poland, Iraq and Indonesia and now living in Marbella, Spain, Isabel Lavender is nonetheless wholly dedicated to the English language.

“I can’t write in Danish!” she laughs, admitting that when inspiration strikes it always makes its presence felt in the language of Shakespeare and Keats.

Educated at Aalborg University where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Economy and Personnel Management, Isabel’s CV makes for fascinating reading: she has been a Miss Denmark finalist, model, fitness instructor, TV presenter and businesswoman, to name but a few of her many roles.

Now a poet and lyricist, Isabel has chosen to focus her talent on writing intelligent lyrics for adult contemporary pop songs and has already achieved a great deal of success. Earlier this year Isabel submitted eight lyrics to The UK Songwriting Contest; seven were accepted as semi-final contenders and one (Tallulah) was a finalist.

Organised by the famous BRIT School in Croydon, The UK Songwriting Contest is a prestigious event and is open to entrants around the world. It provides an excellent platform for emerging talents, with last year’s overall winner being signed by Simon Cowell.

Isabel’s success in the UK Songwriting Contest follows on from her strong showing last year in America’s Song of the Year competition. This contest takes place every month, with the winning entries competing for the Song of the Year title at the end of the year. Isabel says that she is influenced and inspired by artists like Kings of Leon and Coldplay as well as contemporary singer-songwriters like Dido and James Blunt, musicians who have built their reputations on the complexity of their songs.

Lyric writing means not knowing when inspiration will strike – and when it does it helps to have a pen and some paper close to hand. Isabel always has to think ahead. “I keep Post-it notes in the car so that if I have an idea I can start writing straight away.”

Sometimes the most prosaic scenes can trigger the imagination. “I saw a guy outside the supermarket the other day and he looked quite dishevelled. I wondered where he had come from and what his story was. It ended up with me going back to the car, picking up a Post-it and writing a lyric about this vagabond.”

It’s possible that Isabel’s creative inclinations are linked to her exotic ancestry. While researching her family tree she discovered that her family name – Bersabé – links her to Princess Maryam of the Nasri Dynasty via her ancestor, Ozman Bersabé, who married Maryam in the fifteenth century.
